BALSAM BASH 4th - 18th July

The Big Balsam Bash is two weeks of intense action where communities come together to tackle Himalayan Balsam, an invasive species causing unrest to our native plants and wildlife.A number of charities and community groups have already signed up to organise public and private events during the 4th-18th July 2022, can you get involved too?

How you can help throughout May/June:

1. Organise a public event
1. Send details of balsam bashing public events taking place between 4th-18th July 2022
2. Include location/date/time/how to register (if applicable)
3. Send info to Stephanie Wyatt to get it listed on the website
2. Encourage others to host public events
   1. Use the Big Balsam Bash graphics from the google drive and post on your social media/ send emails to volunteers:The Big Balsam Bash takes place from the 4th -18th July 2022. 3. Identify a balsam 'hot spot'
   • If you're a landowner/or have permission from the landowner, and you know a location where balsam grows

How you can help in July

1. Promote your own events and any listed at EVENTS on social media, in newsletters etc
2. Encourage people to balsam bash in their own time
   1. Direct people to view the 'Hot Spot' map if they're not sure where to go to find BALSAM
   2. Post on social media/ website/ email etc using the 'how to' Big Balsam Bash graphics from the google drive to encourage safe bashing
   3. Plus encourage people to record their results on this : SURVEY
3. Share our 'fact cards'
   1. Help raise general awareness about the problems with balsam by sharing the key messages/ graphics from the google drive on social media, in newsletters etc
